New York Desi Experience

loveandtheworld:

lately alot of people have been asking me how i maintain my desi obsession in new york. so ive decided to release my favorite secret spots where i can get my indian fix.

one great thing i started doing recently is taking bollywood dance classes from dhoonya dance. in one hour, the instrucors lead you through a dance routine. its so much fun and high energy. to look for classes check their website: www.dhoonyadance.com

when i desperately need to see the latest bollywood movies, i can usually find something playing at the amc lowes theaters-village 7 on 3rd avenue and 11th street. they don’t show that many movies, so i usually have to find other sources. and thats when i trek out to today’s music on 37th road between 73rd and 74th street in jackson heights. the guys working there have anything i want and you can bargain the price per movie pretty low. after scouring films, i usually wander down to al naimat restaurant on 74th street closer to 37th avenue for their kashmiri chai because it is DIVINE.
